Another hymn I absolutely love is In Christ Alone. Fun fact is that ‘In Christ Alone’ was not originally a hymn but a modern Christian song released in 2001, written and performed by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend but generally sang as a hymn in a lot of Churches in every part of the world.

The song was written to express our belief in Jesus Christ as Christians. The song story is based on the theme of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the implications it has on us as God’s children. It captures the essence of Christianity. Why Jesus came, His message here on earth and the reason for His death to give us eternal life.

The song describes the person of God and what He means to us.  The essence of His death on the cross was to give us salvation, a new life in Him. He died so we can be set free. He is the Light of the world by darkness was slain and yet even through all oppressions he faced, He rose from the grave and now He stands in victory. We are His and He is ours. We’ve been cleansed from all our sins. So, sin has no stronghold over us. We’ve been bought with a price, His precious blood. Guess what! He did it all for us willingly because He loves us with an everlasting love. His love is sacrificial. There’s nothing He won’t do for the ones He love.

The first verse expresses His love for us and who he is to us. He is our strength, He’s there when no one else is, He is our comforter, He’s there when all hope is lost and when we need strength to believe. He’s there in our storms, in our joy, our happiness, our worst moments. He sees it all, knows it all and feels it all with us but through it all He remains with us. He’s forever our cornerstone and In His love, we will forever stand. The verse says,

In Christ alone, my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm…
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled and striving cease
My Comforter, my All-in-All
Here in the love of Christ I stand…

It’s mind-blowing to know we have this confidence that we have a loving father who loves us no matter what and will stop at nothing to show His love and draw us back to Him even when we are far away. Glory!!
