FAMILIARITY – SHALL WE SHARE THE GRACE IN FELLOWSHIP

Almost every spoken word or prayer like the goodness have been reduced in value to this common question “How are you?” that most people don’t give a thought to before replying. “Fine”, that is the default answer even when nothing is fine.

The most common phrase in the church today is “Let us share the grace/goodness” and in response everyone races through Psalm 23:6 and/or 2 Cor 13:4

Psalms 23:6 (NKJV) Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (NKJV) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

Have you ever taken time to consider every single word of those confessions? What do they mean to you? Have you ever asked what makes them so important that we recite it after every gathering?

I want to show you the power of confession, what is confession capable of doing?

Confession is simply the profession of your beliefs; faith or fear. Faith and fear are equal but opposite forces that determines our personal experiences. They bring our hope alive.

A very good picture of confession was staged in the Old Testament. In the wilderness just after the twelve Israelite spies sent to checkout the promise land brought their reports. Ten said they were no match with the dwellers of the land who were giants, while the other two said they should go up at once and occupy the land, that they can conquer it (Numbers 13: 25-33)
The feedback made the whole congregation make this statement “If only we had died in Egypt or this wilderness, but Caleb and Joshua said “If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us”. Numbers 14:2-3, 6-8.
Imagine God’s response to them. Numbers 14:28-30 (NKJV) Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: 29 The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, 30 Except for Caleb and Joshua, you shall by no means enter the land which I swore I would make you dwell in.
Wooh! This one is strong!!!

Time and space will not permit me to explain those two prayers, maybe some other time but I will share different translations.

Psalms 23:6 (AMP) Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days the house of the Lord [and His presence] shall be my dwelling place.

(MSG) Your beauty and love chase after me every day of my life. I’m back home in the house of God for the rest of my life.

2 Corinthians 13:14 (AMP) The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship (the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).

(MSG)  The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with all of you.

When next you say/share the grace or goodness, do it with understanding. With the consciousness that God is listening and expects those words to produce.

I will really love to see your comment and kindly hit the share button, let others know about this. I hold you all in high esteem 😉

Yours,
