I came across this portion of the Bible while going through my bible reading plan.
“14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.
15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the testings we do, yet he did not sin.
16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
– Hebrews 4:14-16 (NLT)
As I looked through the passage, verse 15 caught my eyes. I was like hol’ up, hol’up, hol’up, what do my eyes see? Jesus faced all of the temptations I am facing too? and i’m not talking about the ‘man shall not live by bread alone’ kind of temptation here.
I really can’t be the only one who ever thought about Jesus’ life before he came into the limelight (permit to use that word). How did he fare when he got into the stage of puberty? That’s when most of just start seeing things we never noticed before.
Permit me to be a little graphic here, but did people actually try to seduce Jesus? Did someone try to kiss him? Like Joseph, did he leave his clothes behind and take off? Bust my head!
After picking up the pieces of my head, I kept on reading. Another part that almost had my head in pieces was the part where it says, “This high Priest of ours understands our weaknesses“. How cool is that?
Jesus understands what I go through? This means that he totally gets the trials and temptations I may be going through and he is with me, and his arms are always wide open to receive me.
Anyway, the part of that verse I would like to focus on is that part that says;
yet he did not sin
I know how elated most of us must have felt when we saw the first part of this verse, I know I did too. But this part kinda just brought back the somber mood.
Jesus was very, very human when he was on earth, and we can see that he faced literally every type of temptation possible. We know that Jesus was without sin while he was on earth and that just totally verifies the second part of the verse. So, if Jesus Christ was able to overcome all the temptations he faced, why can’t we?.
I’m going to go off point here and bring in the subject of comparison.
You know how we look at Khloe K and want to just go into a squatting frenzy (don’t lie please), or how we see a picture of Amber Rose, and decide to get a haircut and dye it blonde?. That is how it should be when we look at Jesus.
You should go “if Jesus could do this, or if he could live this way, then so can I”. If Jesus could block the number of that girl with Truecaller, why can’t you? If Jesus could mute that person’s tweets just so that he doesn’t expose himself to temptation, why can’t you? If Jesus had to distance himself from some people, why shouldn’t you?
Jesus should be the one you look up to in all aspects.

Rather than being in awe of the fact that Beyonce can just wake up and release an album, lets live in wonder of the fact that Jesus could live as a human being and not sin, and let that alone be the ultimate status we hope to attain.
