How To Get Over Fear

I vividly remember sometime in my younger days when the Sunday school teacher gave us an acronym for fear. She said “FEAR means False Experience Appearing Real”.

As much as this was and is true, looking back now, I realize that knowing the acronym didn’t stop my fear of examinations and bad dreams, neither did it stop my sisters fear of the dark, but something else did and that is what I plan to share as the panacea to the fear quandary.

“And ye shall know the truth and the TRUTH shall make you free” Romans 8:32 spells this out clearly. So, what exactly is the truth about fear?

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind”

  1. “For God has not given…” Fear is not from God. Every time you are afraid whether after a really nasty act or goodly deed, allow the fact that fear isn’t from God kick you back into reality. Every time you are afraid, the devil is having fun with you. The question is will you allow that?
  2. “…but of power”: You have the power to resist, fight and overcome fear. It lies within you to use that power as much as possible, take is and fight off fear.
  3. “…of love…” God loves you! I believe that’s the greatest news ever! Scripture says “perfect love casteth out fear”, the love Christ has for you should give you a confidence like no other and help you push against any form of fear.
  4. Finally, “…but of sound mind”. You have the mind of Christ, God wants a peaceful hear for you, don’t allow the devil bamboozle you and steal your joy!

I believe that after now, anytime fear tries to sneak into your heart, you should do a good job of kicking it out through the window of your heart!

Stay peaceful.
