Taking Things Personal

bible_eph 4 26

Eph 4:26-27 “In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.
Why? Why do you always get upset, especially at the slightest of things? Is it because you expect others to be as perfect as you are, or you have zero-tolerance for the shortcomings of people? Is it a thing of pride or ego?
Anger is a strong emotion that can cause potentially irreparable damage when acted upon. People say it’s okay to get angry, “Didn’t Jesus get angry in the temple?” they say. Getting angry is not the issue. The issues are: Why are you angry? What happens when you get angry? And for how long do you stay angry or offended?

In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a footholdEph 4:26-27

Don’t interpret this scripture literally and assume you have at most till 6pm to be angry. The scripture simply implies that you must never prolong your anger, especially when it’s unnecessary. Reduce anger by building the virtues of patience and forgiveness. Never run out of slack because you will always have to cut others some.
