The Indescribable Riches of His Grace – Triumph30

Text: Zep 3:17

“The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Saviour [Who saves!] He will rejoice over you with you; He will rest[in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.” (Amplified)

The Law places emphasis on righteousness by works (Rom 2:13) but under Grace we believe and receive what Christ has achieved for us by his death and resurrection. 1 John 2:2 (Amp) says “And he [that same Jesus Himself] is the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins and not for ours alone but for [the sins of] the whole world.”

The word ‘propitiation‘ means to appease, it is from a root word ‘propitus’, which means GRACIOUS.Propitiation is the act of appeasing a deity therefore incurring divine favour or avoiding divine retribution. Jesus is our propitiation! He has freed us and brought us to the wide, open space of God’s grace. God will never be angry with us again! (Zeph 3:17)

This is the Gospel that God fulfilled his plan to accept the death of his Son Jesus as the propitiation for the sins of the world and has ever since bestowed righteousness on ANYONE that believes in Him. The Gospel is that ungodly people who cannot meet the righteous standard of God are justified by believing in what Jesus has done. (Rom 8:5). This is the indescribable riches of God’s grace and goodness.

Works are no longer a prerequisite like under the Law but a ‘fruit’ of salvation. Our good works will never have earned us this grace, now we are  qualified  by faith in Jesus. (2 Cor 5:21)

Halleluyah!
