Today on “The Journey to Significance”; What is the power, the relevance of the words we speak?
“The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life” John 6:63
The world was created by words, everything we see were created by words. Miracles, Signs, inventions, songs, politics, business, and relationships are all centered on words. Words have incredible power in our lives, Words are powerful. They can create, destroy, build, save and condemn.
Words carry immeasurable significance. In the beginning was THE WORD, THE WORD was WITH GOD and THE WORD was GOD and THE WORD is EVERLASTING.
Words provides us with the vehicle for sharing our experiences with others, they create a medium through which we are able to communicate our lives to the world. The words you habitually choose affects what you experience.
The question now is what are you speaking to yourself?
You can do a lot of makeup to have a permanently smiling face and you could dress such that you look well and happy everyday but, all these investments are not as profitable as the words you speak. The words we speak are life-bearing.
Speak Life to yourself!
If you can’t say anything nice, stay mute! It’s better not to say anything at all.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” Proverbs 18:31
You speak life with the words you say.
As you go through life, it is important to be mindful about what you say. The most powerful thing you possess is the words coming from your mouth. The tongue is sharp and can cut like you would not believe; it can also bring comfort to the most hopeless situation.
Think well before you speak because your words may plant the seed of either success or failure in the mind of some other person.
These days, I’ve been very careful of what I speak or what someone says to me. In fact, if a person unknowingly wishes me less than what I wish for myself I react because it’s better for both of us. For example, why wish for good luck when I can aim for success, cos I am going to do my best not try my luck.
There’s no guarantee that you will always have someone to talk to in difficult times and this is why it is very important for us to be able to speak words of encouragements to ourselves which we can draw from God’s word which strengthens us with life.
No matter how bad yesterday was, or how hard today may seem you have to keep speaking to yourself, and tell yourself that you are victorious. Do not allow people or anything else to convince you that you cannot make it. Speak positive things into your life today and every day.
Therefore, if we want to change our lives and our destiny, we need to consciously choose what we read, what we listen to, who we hang out with, where we go and what we say. This will go a long way in transforming your vocabulary.
Conversely, be mindful of even the common replies to the everyday questions like “How are you”. The labels we put on our experience become our experience. Choose your words wisely.
Anytime you look at the mirror, your dressing mirror, car mirror, reflective windows etc. Seize the opportunity to tell yourself something good, tell yourself I can make it; I am destined to win; I am made perfect; I am more than a conqueror; I have the mind of Christ.
Take 60 seconds to speak positively to your life now. You are destined for greatness!
Every day, in every way, you are getting better and better to become the best you are by the way you speak.
Have a great week.
God Bless you.

This was really on point Dara. I’m currently studying a book and I’m on a chapter talking on the importance of confession. What I’ve just read (this post) reiterates the importance of positive/right confession. I’ve been speaking so much now consciously that I can see changes already. Omo, it’s gonna be something I do incessantly for the rest of my life! Hehe.
In summary, we should be careful what we think, because what we think leads to what we believe and what we believe is what we confess.
Thank you once again Dara and God bless. 🙂
Thanks Akin. Indeed, our confessions are very important. Greater heights!
